Private wreath laying

Private wreath laying at the Navy Memorial (9 Nov 2006) honoring

USS Hornet alumni

Greetings,

I was hoping you might help me reach out to alumni of the USS Hornet. Five of the sixteen surviving "Tokyo Doolittle Raiders", as well as General Doolittle's son, will be here in Washington D.C. for Veteran's Day as featured guests at several venues. They will be laying wreaths at Arlington Ceremony for their fallen comrades and at the newly-dedicated Air Force Memorial. On the morning of Thursday, 9 November 2006, we have reserved the Navy Memorial for a brief wreath laying ceremony by the Doolittle Raiders in honor of those who served aboard the USS Hornet.

This has the potential for being a very moving and well-covered story, as it is the first time the Doolittle Raiders have formally paid their respects to the crew of the USS Hornet at the Navy Memorial. Both Air Force and Navy senior leadership are expected to attend and we anticipate this to be a brief (under 15 minutes) and intimate (fewer than 40 people) ceremony. We would love to include any and all alumni of the USS Hornet who may have an interest in participating in this historic gesture.

Please contact me if you are interested in attending or can suggest other ways to connect with USS Hornet alumni.

Thank you and kind regards,

Hillaire Clark
